Impact #3 (1955) – Large Art
Jack Davis created the covers for all 5 issues of EC’s IMPACT, including this LARGE ART cover for IMPACT #3. Impact was the first title in the New Direction line for EC comics in 1955 after its brush with the United States Senate and the birth of Mad Magazine. Additionally, IMPACT is significant in that it contained Bernard Krigstein’s Master Race. This large size artwork measuring roughly 12.5″ x 18″ displays Jack Davis’s incredible artistic range, combining elements of humor, horror, his sublime cross-hatching, as well as a delightful gag/commentary on the nature of capitalism and its potential pitfalls.
